Droitwich Archery Society
              About Us

The Society:

Droitwich Archery Society has been a friendly and successful club since our founding in 1967. It is our mission to provide a first-class Society, both technically and socially, to all those interested in the sport of archery. We believe the best way to achieve this goal is to recruit, train and develop archers in a relaxed and informal way: to provide a pleasant convivial atmosphere for the recreational archer, whilst encouraging those who so wish to go on to a successful competitive shooting career. In recent years the club has been particularly dynamic, and has expended to be one of the largest clubs in the County. Many of it’s members have become extremely competitive, with large contingents of Droitwich archers appearing both at Open Tournaments around the country, and in the County Squad. We are particularly pleased with the expansion of our Junior section, and the award of the prestigious “ClubMark”.

Society Committee:

The Society is run by an elected committee, details of which are to be found on the contacts page. The committee normally meets during the second week of the month to discuss the running of the club. The AGM (at which the committee is elected) is held at the end of March.

History of the society:

A brief history of the society is to be found here.

Where are we?

The Society has two main facilities: the summer ground at Droitwich Rugby Football Club’s ground and the winter hall at Dodderhill - both in Droitwich. The addresses are on the Contact Us page. Thanks to Google you can see all of our venues on a map - and get directions and other info - click here (it will open in a pop-up window)

When do we shoot?

During the outdoor season (April - September) there is regular shooting on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from about 6:30, and on Sundays afternoons from about 2:00. Shooting finishes at dusk. During the indoor season (October - March) shooting in the hall takes place from 7:00 - 10:00 every Thursday and 10:00 - 13:00 every Saturday - and (if the weather is good enough) we can still use the outdoor ground on Sunday.

Insurance:

Liability insurance is provided by the GNAS, and covers all authorised activities of the Society. All activities by the Society and its members are conducted in strict accordance with the provisions of this cover. Because of this some of the rules may appear overly burdensome - however there is no alternative. Without insurance we cannot shoot. A summary of the cover is available here.
