Droitwich Archery Society
               Facilities

Outdoor (Summer) season:

Our outdoor ground is situated at Droitwich Rugby Football Club’s home on the Hanbury Road. The main ground can accommodate two dozen bosses at up to 100 yards and faces east, so the evening sun is behind the shooting line. For special events there is room for up to 50+ bosses, so, once again, DAS is in a posiA few hardy archers brave the snow flurries of early April.tion to host large tournaments. There are good spectator facilities to the side, and we have the use of DRFC’s club house.

As well as the Society’s regular practice ground we have a dedicated coaching range, an additional practice range and a tournament field. We have the use of the ground during the summer season (April - September) on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoon. The clubhoOn the shooting lineuse has all the expected club facilities, including a bar & meeting room. There is a large car park with direct access to the shooting line. Camping spaces are available onsite if required. The Society shares this ground with other sports clubs, and therefore has to forgo the occasional session: details of these will be posted on the Club Calendar (on the Members’ Pages). The ground is easily reached from the M5, being about 3 miles from Junction 5 - for a map click the link at the bottom of the page.

Indoor (Winter) season:

Our winter home is the David Street Sports Hall at Dodderhill School, Droitwich. In the hall we can accommodate 10 bosses, enabling 40 archers to shoot Indoors at Dodderhill comfortably. The range is normally 20 yards, but 25 yards can be done at a push. The club shoots at the hall (nearly) every Thursday evening 19:00 - 22:00 & Saturday mornings (09:00 - 12:00) during the winter (October - March). For a map see the link at the bottom of the page. Please note that you should not contact the school direct on archery matters - they will not have any information for you that you cannot find on this website.

In addition we can use of the ground at DRFC during the winter by prior arrangement, which enables some outdoor practice on Sundays, and participation in the “Frostbite” League. However it must be stressed that the society has no rights to such use, and that other users of the ground have priority.

Indoor Tournaments:

For the last few years DAS has been hosting its indoor tournaments at Blessed Edward Oldcorne School in Worcester. Although this hall is still only wide enough to accommodate 11 bosses, it is long enough to allow the Society to host a World Record Status Combined FITA.

Beginners’ Course

The first 4 sessions of the Beginners’ Course are run at the 8th Worcester Scout Hut in Claines. The hall here is big enough for 5 bosses at 12 yards, allowing us to have 20 students on the course.

Facilities:

  *   In all cases parking is available on the site, at the owners’ risk.
  *   All venues are suitable for wheelchair archers.
