Child Welfare Officer

The welfare of children & vulnerable adults

Droitwich Archery Society believes that when dealing with children and vulnerable adults, their welfare should always be of paramount importance. We are committed to providing an environment where young people can learn and participate in a sport free from harassment and abuse. All those people working with children have a moral responsibility to safeguard and promote a child’s welfare. This club has therefore adopted the GNAS Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy to ensure peace of mind for both adults and children.

For thiclubmark-logos reason the Society made a policy decision in 2007 to become ClubMark Accredited. This is an nationally recognised mark of excellence, audited by the Governing Body (GNAS) and SportEngland, that ensures that the society is properly run, and is a safe & suitable organisation for the participation of children. Droitwich Archery was awarded ClubMark in Spring 2009, following a year of hard work by a dedicated team.

The Child Welfare Officer has completed the relevant Child Protection training, and is a member of the Society’s Management Committee. All Club Coaches, and all adults with substantial access to children and vulnerable adults, undergo an Enhanced CRB check. Parents are reminded that physical contact may be necessary as part of coaching.

We adhere to the Child Protection Policy laid down by GNAS, and the current key documents covering this policy are available for download direct from SportFocus. These are:

Please note the following:

  • It is the Society’s policy that children & vulnerable adults are accompanied at all times by their appropriate adult when on club premises or other archery activities.
  • The Society assumes the titles “CWO” (Child Welfare Officer) and “CPO” (Child Protection Officer) are synonymous, and uses them interchangably throughout.
