Outdoor Tournaments:

Our outdoor tournaments are held at the Droitwich Rugby Football Club grounds just outside Droitwich. Here we have superb shooting facilities,  a good bar, plenty of parking and camping space (if needed!).

Spring Open Tournament (UK Record Status) - April

This tournament was initiated in 2005 as an enjoyable season opener. In deference to the season the shoot starts early. The rounds shot so far have been National(s) in 2005, and a St. George in 2006.

Because of uncertainties over the ground, this event was not held in 2007 or 2008, but will be back in 2009 as a Record Status New Warwick. There are two sessions, so archers can shoot the ‘Double’ but GNAS do not recognise Double Warwicks for record purposes.

The round is intended as a easy-going shoot, and all archers are urged to consider coming, irrespective of experience. We hope to see you there...

Summer Annual Open Albion (UK Record Status) - June

The Society hosts an annual Summer Tournament on our ground near Droitwich, on one of the middle Sundays in June. The round shot is an A The St. Hubert's Trophylbion, with Windsors for the Juniors and a Burntwood Albion for visually impaired archers. The tournament is Record Status although some allowances in the dress code are made for novices & first-time tournament archers.

All types of bow are welcome: the shoot attracts a good field of longbow archers, encouraged by the magnificent St. Hubert’s Trophy donated by Patti & Dave Vukomanovic at the inaugural event. From 2005 the event will feature an equally desirable trophy for the junior longbow winner, donated by Alex Pattison.

The Society aim to strike a balance between running a serious shoot for the experienced archer whilst maintaining relaxed atmosphere that will not put off the novice or first-time tournament-goer. From the feedback received to date it would seem as though this has been achieved.

From 2007 the tournament will enjoy the excellent facilities of the Droitwich Rugby Football Club’s clubhouse. This includes the bar, which is open all day, and the restaurant, which will be serving hot food (e.g. burgers and pork rolls) until mid-afternoon.

Annual Chicago (Closed) - Autumn

The Society runs annual Chicago Tournament, on our ground near Droitwich, towards the end of the Summer. It is a ‘Closed’ shoot - for club members and invited guests only.

All members are welcome, especially those who are not frequent tournament goers.

The Chicago round is the same as an American, but with metric scoring. It isn’t a recognised GNAS round, but you can convert your score to an American by subtracting 1 for every ‘even’ arrow score you make (i.e. count all the even arrow scores and subtract that number from your score!).

There will be St Nicholas for U14s if required.

Indoor Tournaments:

Combined FITA (World Record Status) - October

From 2009 the Society has hosted its annual ‘World Record Status Combined FITA’ Tournament at the superb sports hall at The Royal Grammar School Worcester. The world-class lighting is just one of the features that make this venue second-to-none in the West Midlands. The event is held on one of the middle Sundays in October.

A ‘Combined FITA’ (a 25m FITA in the morning followed by an 18m FITA in the afternoon) is a rare event, attracts a good field from far and wide.

Because of the size of the hall, entry is limited to 56 places, and the target list tends to fill up early, so book in plenty of time!

Double Worcester (UK Record Status) - December

Traditionally the Society has worc2008hosted its annual winter ‘Worcester’ Tournament on one of the middle Sundays in December. For years this was shot at The Perdiswell Leisure Centre, with Record Status for both Single and Double Worcester rounds. However the escalating cost of the hall forced the Society to relocate the event: for a few years to Blessed Edward’s School in Battenhall and, in 2008, to The Royal Grammar School Alice Ottley. The hall is smaller than Perdiswell, only accommodating 15 bosses, but the lighting and other facilities are excellent, making this a truly first-class venue.

The tournament attracts a field of 60+ archers from all over the country. Amongst several National Records set at this event in recent years was Ladies’ Recurve record for the Worcester was set here by Naomi Foulkard in 2003.

Club Indoor Championship & Nick Gilbert Memorial Trophy (Closed tournament) - March

This event was inaugurated in March 2010 in memory of Nick Gilbert, coach and enthusiastic member of the club. The round is a 1/2 Portsmouth with results decided on straight score. The Nick Gilbert Memorial Trophy is awarded on handicap adjusted score.
