Notes from the CCO

It is the job of the CCO to organise & coordinate ‘County Coaching’ across Worcestershire. This task falls into three broad categories:

    1. Act as a conduit between CWAA coaches and WM Region / GNAS to disseminate information in both directions.
    2. To arrange and facilitate training for CWAA coaches in order to meet the needs of clubs and archers in the County
    3. To arrange County-wide coaching events where appropriate.

It is, by and large, a thankless task. Every action seems to garner more criticism then praise. Nevertheless something has to be done, both to allow CWAA (and the clubs) to meet their obligations and to try to improve the level of coaching available. As the present incumbent I will do things the way I see fit. The CCO is elected at the AGM - that’s how democracy works.

I will be bringing in external coaches from time to time. This is not a slur on the abilities of CWAA members, but reflects my belief that “a prophet is never honored in his own land”. Additionally CWAA coaches can benefit from experiencing other coaches - it all counts towards their CPD.

Suggestions & constructive criticism is more than welcome - it is essential. County Coaching in Worcestershire is restarting from nonexistent - there is no extant program to enhance and modify. So, if you have any ideas please let me know.

If you have any questions about this page, or can provide any help, please email the County Coaching Co-ordinator

Here is a 30 second movie of an arrow leaving a recurve bow, then hitting a boss. If you need help to convince archers that the arrow flexes, get them to look at this - a picture is worth a thousand words! When you click on the icon you should see the movie open in your default Media Player.
